In support of UOttawa Smiling Over Sickness' Shave for a Cure 2016.
Sponsor Marc-Olivier and help him raise awareness and money for childhood cancer research here
I am Marc-Olivier Deguise, one of the coordinators of Smiling Over Sickness and one of the organizers of Shave for a Cure. Shave for a Cure is intended to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research, a cause close to my heart. It is close to my heart for multiple reasons but I can identify one main driver behind my involvement in Shave for a Cure as a shavee and organizer; and it goes back to many years ago...

As the only child of an overprotective mother, I was a healthy kid that simply visited the hospital on a frequent basis. This very situation built an appreciation of what I had - Health. I had the chance to have a happy childhood full of different experiences including school, sports, friends, etc. However, life often is not fair and too many children do not get to experience such this childhood, especially pediatric cancer patients. Their fight against cancer will keep them away from many of the good things of being child. In addition, treatments are not perfect and many children may not get to see adulthood either. My involvement is aimed at modifying this unfair situation. I hope that my contribution through Shave for a Cure both as a shavee and organizer makes this fight easier, shorter, and more successful. These children deserve happiness and the full experience of a childhood beyond the hospital.
